Concrete Gravel Boards Vs Wooden Gravel Boards

What is a gravel board?

A gravel board protects the main part of your fence from damp rotting the wood.

Why do I need it?

It simply makes sense as you will find with out one you may be replacing your whole garden fence which can be very costly.

Why use concrete gravel boards?

Concrete boards are heavy duty and if installed correctly will last for many years. They can be disguised with small plants and shrubs. Concrete will not rot so will not need to be replaced and they will finish off the fence by adding support to the structure.

Why use wooden gravel boards?

Concrete is not to every ones tastes so smaller wooden board are more discreet and cheap to install. These used to be called "kick boards" as they are just kicked out and replaced. Wooden boards are just as affective as concrete board but they will need to be replaced every so often as they are prone to rot in damp conditions.

If it is within your budget then have them installed in your garden as it is a wise choice. Remember that concrete gravel boards do not come in DIY kits neither are they easy to erect, simply due to their weight. It is advisable to have them installed by professionals.

The benefits are that compared to wood boards they will not break under severe weather conditions and also they do not succumb to rot caused by rain. Concrete posts do not need to be treated, they simply just do their job.
